JEAN-CLAUDE ANDRE - Short Biography
Prof. Jean-Claude André graduated from the National Polytechnic Institute of Nancy (INPL - France) as Chemical Engineer and Physicist in 1966. He was awarded with the PhD in physical chemistry (interaction between light and matter) in 1971. He then pursued a postdoctoral work with Bill Ware in London (Canada) in optical physics and in signal processing (1976 and 1978). He was awarded to start his own CNRS research group and over the years become a research director (of highest rank) in the field of light-matter interactions. He holds 45 patents (+6 under progress) in 3D an 4D printing, he published about 400 publications, 6 books (+3 under progress), first patent on additive manufacturing in 1984 and more than 60 successfully supervised PhDs. During his career he also worked in a private sector as scientific director of a French insurance company (700 people in R&D). He became a research emeritus in 2009.
