We have received the Basic Family-Friendly Enterprise Certificate!Slovensko

The certificate is both a recognition and a commitment to creating a high-quality, inclusive, and employee-friendly working environment. It represents a structured process that helps the Jožef Stefan Institute introduce and implement measures for better work-life balance and promotes a culture of mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation. Obtaining the certificate is not a one-time event, but rather a long-term process of developing the organizational culture. The adopted measures are monitored, upgraded, and regularly reviewed with the aim of creating a working environment that promotes employee well-being, high-quality cooperation, and the long-term stability and success of the Institute. For employees, this primarily means the systematic introduction of solutions that contribute to greater job satisfaction, better organization of working time, easier coordination of personal and professional responsibilities, and a reduction of everyday challenges.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or initiatives related to the Family-Friendly Enterprise Certificate, please feel free to contact us at dpp@ijs.si. We will be happy to answer your questions and consider your suggestions.

Measures

1. Team for Work-Life Balance Coordination

We have established a dedicated team whose primary task is to collect, propose, and implement new and improved working methods aimed at balancing professional and private life.

2. Communication with Employees

Through various communication channels, we inform employees about the adopted work-life balance measures, address topics related to balancing professional and private life, and respond to the challenges employees encounter.

3. Communication with the External Public

We present our organization to external stakeholders and general public as a “Family-Friendly Institute,” emphasizing work-life balance as an integral part of our organizational culture.

4. Family-Friendly Enterprise Survey

Through the Ekvilib Institute questionnaire, information is collected from employees regarding satisfaction, the frequency of use of individual measures, suggestions for improvements, and preferences concerning work-life balance measures. The survey is conducted periodically every three years.

5. Training for Heads of Departments in the Area of Work-Life Balance

At least once every three years, we will organize training for Heads of Department to emphasize the importance of a positive attitude toward balancing work and private life and to inform them about the measures adopted within the Family-Friendly Enterprise Certificate framework.

6. Flexible Working Hours

We will introduce the concept of flexible working hours, divided into a fixed core period during which employees must be present at the workplace, and a flexible period within which employees may choose their own arrival and departure times.

7. Right to Request Adjustment of Working Conditions

Every employee has the right to request adjustments to working conditions related to the workplace or working hours due to specific caregiving responsibilities.

8. Right to Disconnect

We will support a culture of the right to disconnect and rest from work obligations through appropriate organization of meetings and by limiting work-related communication (telephone and email) to working hours.

9. Open Day

Every two years we will organize an Open Day event for employees and their families.

10. Development of Social Skills for Heads of Departments

We will encourage our Heads of Departments to develop a deeper understanding of work-life balance issues and support them in constructively resolving situations arising from the differing interests of various groups in this area.

11. Inclusion of Work-Life Balance Topics in Annual Performance Reviews

We will establish the practice of regular annual discussions between heads of departments and employees, which will also include aspects related to balancing professional and private life.

12. Gifts for Employees’ Children

On various occasions, we will provide small gifts or organize events for the children of our employees up to a certain age.

On this occasion, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to our colleagues for their contribution, cooperation, and willingness to help shape an organizational culture based on respect, responsibility, and mutual trust.

The award was received on behalf of the Institute by Assistant Director Katarina Lavrin Marenče.
