The Centre for Business Applications, set up in 1992, is an independent unit within the administration of the Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI). We are responsible for IT support of business operations of the JSI and links between administration units and research departments within the JSI. Our job is developing new IT projects, programming, maintaining software applications and hardware, processing and analysing business and financial data and creating financial reports, which serve as a base for decision making in the management of research departments and the entire JSI. We are maintaining the network and workstations within the administration of the JSI and planning further development.

With 1.1.2014 is set up Service for Business Informatics - U5 as an independent organizational unit of the Institute. Service will be divided into up into two subunits, namely:
- Sub-unit for financial reporting
- Sub-unit for processing business
